Hello Springridge Farm fans!

I welcome autumn with such excitement and enthusiasm, and we are so fortunate to live in a region that boasts one of the most phenomenally colourful seasonal transitions.  I normally count on a visit to Springridge Farm to do a cookbook signing event to meet and visit with you.  I also treasure my time there to connect with the gorgeous setting, to see John & Laura and the incredible people who proudly make Springridge Farm such a special place.  But as we know, 2020 has spilt the milk, but we can’t cry over it – we must adapt and move ahead.

So while I can’t be there in person to sign books and visit with you, I am thrilled that Springridge Farm is carrying my newest cookbook, BAKING DAY!  Don’t we all need a baking day right now?  All you need to do is set aside an hour or a few (or a whole day, if you wish) and pick a few recipes to dive into.  Baking offers such respite from our daily stresses – it takes just enough focus and attention that we forget all of the to-do’s on our list and at the end, ta-da…something sweet and delicious is waiting for us!  And a baking day gets even better when we have a chance to bake with (or for) our family and friends.  In the new book you can find simple cookie and breakfast recipes, gorgeous breads, delectable desserts and a whole chapter devoted to celebration cakes. COVID or not, birthdays need cake! There is even a section devoted to pet treats.  Naturally, I consider dietary concerns and allergies so there are loads of gluten-free and vegan adaptations which are tried and tested.

Consider this – I give credit to YOU, my Springridge Farm fans, for inspiring this book in the first place! Two years ago, I visited the Farm to sign copies of my previous book, “Set  for the Holidays”. So many parents and grandparents came with their little ones, exclaiming how they spend a Saturday or Sunday baking together and how much that time meant to them.  I recognized then that a Baking Day means more than the sweet treats; it is about the memories built around that time spent together that will be treasured forever.  Believe me, I know – I grew up learning to bake beside my Grandmother and those memories (and family recipes) are the ones I value the most.
